The North Herefordshire Conservative Association
Formerly the Leominster Conservative Association - is based at The Rankin Club in Leominster.
The North Herefordshire constituency, one of the largest in terms of square miles in England, is based largely on the former Leominster constituency - which changed its name to North Herefordshire in time for the 2010 election. The constituency includes the 4 market towns of Kington, Bromyard, Leominster and Ledbury, which along with a vast rural area now has an electorate of 70,600. Leominster was one of the oldest constituencies in the country - from 1295 to 1868 returning 2 MPs - reduced to 1 in 1867 under the Reform Act - and becoming a County Constituency in 1885 with an electorate of just 882 when the Conservative Richard Arkwright won the seat with a majority of 258 (over the Liberals). With a break of 5 years Sir James Rankin held the seat for the Conservatives for 38 years. It has elected a Conservative/Unionist MP since 1910 when the electorate had climbed to 9,600. Bill Wiggin has now represented Leominster and the new North Herefordshire successor seat for 20 years taking 63% of the vote in 2019.
