On 12 September, Sir Bill attended an event in Parliament hosted by the Women’s Institute (WI) for their Week of River Action.
The Week of River Action is part of the WI’s Clean Rivers campaign, which focuses on improving the condition of our waterways.
Bill commented:
It was a pleasure to meet with the Women’s Institute on Tuesday to learn about their Week of River Action.
I applaud the Women’s Institute’s efforts to raise the profile of an issue that is so important in Herefordshire.
I have campaigned long and hard to improve the condition of the River Wye over many years.
With the announcement of a Government River Wye Action Plan it is clear that these efforts are bearing fruit, and the unique situation of the River Wye is being recognised.
I am very much looking forward to seeing the details of this plan, which is due to be published this Autumn, and continuing my work to protect our beautiful rivers.
