Inflation 0.6% - except in Herefordshire – where the ever more costly doctrinaire Coalition Council has raised Council Tax by a whopping 4.99% - rather like 80% of Labour run Councils. Together with the increase in April 2020 – that’s almost a 10% increase - so far – that this Costly Council has imposed on Herefordshire households since coming to power. While wasting your money on making it more difficult to get into our market towns and boosting congestion by scrapping the by-pass, average “Band D” Council Tax demands will take an extra £80 this year out of your pocket on top of the extra £60 it took last year: And that’s a total of £140 less that each household in “Band D” can spend on food, clothes, holidays and entertainment – and for what. As we all know fly tipping has increased, the potholes get deeper while don’t be surprised if restrictions on Council-run tips opening hours are introduced.
And to top it all, this Council must hand back to the Government the £12m it received and banked towards funding the now cancelled by-pass and Southern Link Road. While the Coalition tells you – this will be paid out of reserves – it forgets that legally these reserves must be replenished – and the only source of money – guess what - it’s your pocket. And £12m is equal to over £60 per man, woman and child in Herefordshire.
Do you agree - we can’t afford this Council.
