Parishes: Brimfield, Kimbolton, Leominster North, Leysters, Little Hereford & Middleton-on-the-Hill
John was first elected to Herefordshire Council in 2000 after ten years serving as a Parish Councillor in Brimfield.
He has been re- elected 5 times including being elected unopposed in 2003. He currently represents Leominster North and Rural ward following boundary changes in 2015. The ward comprises four parishes but nearly half the residents live in Leominster. The ward has the second highest number of electors in Herefordshire.
John has served on numerous committees of Herefordshire Council and was privileged to serve as Chairman for four and a half years. John has also served as vice chairman of Council twice and chairman of the audit and governance committee. He has also been a member of the Standards Committee. John serves on the Planning Committee in the current Council.
John has been an active member of the Conservative Party since the 1970s and from 1993 to 1999 chaired the then Leominster Conservative Association. His final duty as chairman was to oversee the selection process which culminated in Bill Wiggin's selection as prospective Parliamentary Candidate in a secret ballot following a crowded meeting at Leominster Leisure Centre. George Osborne was the runner-up!
John lives in the ward he represents on the Council and belongs to several local and community organizations. He is also a governor of two local schools.
